Let the Party Begin!

We finally had our little one year old's party last night! We invited some special people who've always had an interest in our little kids. What a blessing to have these friends in our life.

The birthday cake theme was a butterfly. I had lots of fun putting this one together.

Dennis and I were joking that our marriage was in jeopardy over hanging the streamers in the living room. Some things were just meant for only friends to do together, not married friends. As we put up the last swag I told Dennis that I loved him and we both had a good laugh to ease the tension.

Here are a few pictures of the birthday girl and her guests for you to enjoy. She didn't quite know what to think of all the people who had invaded her home. She sat in the hallway between the kitchen and living room for a good 10 minutes just watching everyone loom over her as they walked by.

Button was pretty impressed with the cake. She kept exclaiming, "Ooooooh!" in her little baby voice. Yes, that is her little sibling sneaking into the picture via the bump on the left.

As it turns out, the plate is tastier than the cake- who woulda thunk it? That plate looked more like a greasy fajita than a plate by the time she was done with it.

Squeaky learned to pose for pictures last night. She smiled like a celebrity.
It is always helpful to have a big sister around, especially when opening presents.

How creative with the butterfly! Good work! What did you use for the eyes and antennas?

Happy birthday button! Poor squeak must of thought she didn't get enough attention last night since she tried to escape this afternoon.

Cute butterfly cake. Cute one year old and almost 3 year old. I won't say too much about the sibling poking into the 2nd picture, but I think it is their brother. Brothers have a way of doing that. Mom

ahh, it's all so cute, wish I had been there, I totally understand her hiding out in the hall, I'd do that too if there were too many people in my personal space.

Well I must admit i have never mastered the art of making a cake let alone icing one.. i can make bread, home made pizza fancy roasts and chicken dinners..but a simple cake is beyond me! I give you a big 10! on that cake.. hehe I know who to call now:) Looks like you had a fun time. Birthdays can be such a great friends and family time too! Happy birthday to Button

Fabulous cake decorating - may be Button is just watching her calorie intake - she wouldn't get as many from the plate as a piece of cake. Ha! Our grandson is usually so tired from all the tadoo (sp.) of special occasions that he isn't interested in eating. It is so much fun too see the girls' happy faces in all the pictures that you post. Love, A. Jean
