Chip off the Old Block

I used to spend my hour long practice time like this too.

One summer grandpa required all of us kids to practice 2 hours every day. This was one of my favorite positions. I would study the ceiling and imagine that I was walking from room to room. stepping over the door arches and sitting on the fixtures pretending they were fancy cake tuffets to sit on. You can't imagine how skilled you get at playing the piano this way, albeit, disobeying Dad. Mom had to listen to six hours, at least, of piano and accordian. Those were the days.

I know exactly what your Mom is talking about re the 2 hours of practice each day in the summer. However I can't remember practicing in this position but I most likely had some other method of whiling away the time. I took lessons on the piano and the according but I don't recall if they ever overlapped causing me to have to practice 4 hours a day. Here in Winnipeg it is not common for kids to take music lessons during the summer school break - ours never did ( mind we usually were not at home.) I think I was very lazy about making my kids practice their music lessons. Love, A. Jean
