Canoeing Down the Saugeen

I finally have a moment to tell you about our canoe trip! It took place last Thursday, which happened to be a beautiful day with lots of sunshine and warm air. I was so grateful for this since most of our day was going to be spent on water.
We chose a bright yellow canoe because I thought it was a happy color. Turns out it was a lemon. We were so slow and horrible at steering that it must have been the canoe. Anyway, we had fun and only had to get out of the canoe about 5 times. (haha) The rest of the time we just lurched back and forth in unison until the canoe slipped off the rocks. By the end of the afternoon we were getting the hang of watching the water "vee" and following it over the rapids. Notice I say rapids. They were rapids, albeit very tiny ones...
The trip was fun and taught me a lot about myself. My flesh reared its ugly head several times as we struggled over rocks and falls, but I also had the opportunity to remember that "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me." (Galatians 2:20) Hooray for the Gospel that has changed my life- and how I view canoeing! :)

Some of our classmates found some mud. I told Dennis he could go up there and join them if he wanted to do his own laundry...

Sounds like a lot of fun. About the only time Dad and I struggled in a joint effort was to hang wall paper in our bathroom in Ottumwa. Most of our years we worked together pretty well. Love, Momm

You sure had a beautiful day - sunshine, fall colours and all the rest. So you didn't think a mud pack would enhanse your beauty that day.

I agree some canoes seem to handle easier than others and the paddles make a difference also.

I have a very strong and experienced partner in canoeing so he makes up for any lack of competence on my part. Wind was the biggest obstical on our last trip together.

love, A. Jean

haha... your comment about Dennis joining the mud gang if he did his own laundry made me laugh (not to loud though people are still asleep here! lol) Sounds like an interesting program you guys have there. I'm glad you are finding the humour as well as the spiritual lessons that can come from all moments in our life wether easy or hard! How's your little ones adjusting to mommy being a bit more busy these days? Hope you aren't too tired out. Send me a note on facebook sometime and let me know how you are. Love Amy
